How Laser Hair Removal Works

Say goodbye to tedious hair removal methods like shaving, waxing, and plucking once and for all. Get Well Clinic delivers offers a long-lasting solution to unwanted hair problems with fast, safe, and effective laser hair removal treatment. Using the latest, most advanced Astanza MeDioStar laser technology, Get Well Clinic delivers smooth skin in as little as six treatments.

How It Works

During treatment, our Astanza MeDioStar laser emits a pulse of light energy that travels through the skin and targets the melanin in the hair follicle. The laser heats up the follicle and destroys the papilla or hair root, successfully cutting off the hair’s nutrient source. Once the damage has been done, the follicle cannot produce hair.

In order to achieve long-lasting hair removal, multiple treatments are needed. This is because laser hair removal is only effective during a specific hair growth stage. Hair grows in a cycle of three stages: the anagen phase, the catagen phase, and the telogen phase.

Different Hair Cycles

The anagen phase, also known as the active growth stage, is the only stage that laser hair removal is effective in. The anagen phase is when the root of the hair is attached to the papilla.

The catagen phase, also known as the transition phase, is when the hair follicle detaches from the papilla, cutting off the nutrient blood supply.

The telogen phase, also known as the resting phase, is when the old hair sheds and new hair begins to form. Thus, starting the cycle all over again.

Because hair grows at different rates, it’s impossible to target each individual hair during its anagen phase, which is why multiple treatments are needed for optimal results. Get Well Clinic recommends each patient receives a minimum of 6 to 12 treatments for long-lasting results. Our Astanza MeDioStar laser produces safe and effective results on all skin types and hair colors, even newly tanned skin. Call us today to book your free appointment!

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can get laser hair removal?
Anyone is a candidate for laser hair removal at Get Well Clinic. Both men and women seek hair removal treatment for different areas on the body. Our advanced Astanza MeDioStar diode laser uses unique wavelengths to treat all skin types, even newly tanned skin. Patients with lighter skin and darker hair types will experience faster, more effective results due to the contrast of melanin in their skin and hair.
Which areas of the body can be treated?
We can treat all areas of the body including the bikini area and face. The most popular treatment areas are the legs, arms, back, chest, upper lip, and underarms.
How many treatments will I need?
For permanent hair reduction, patients will need a minimum of 6 to 12 treatments spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart. This waiting period is necessary to target the hair follicles during the anagen phase when hair is actively growing.
Is the laser safe?
Absolutely! Our laser is FDA approved and treatments are 100% noninvasive. Our laser technicians use custom protocols based on your skin and hair type to ensure your skin is treated optimally.
Does the laser hurt?
Thanks to our Astanza MeDioStar, Get Well Clinic delivers pain-free hair removal treatments. The laser uses integrated cooling technology to help alleviate the skin immediately before each treatment pulse.
Are there any side effects?
Laser hair removal is an extremely safe procedure with limited side effects. This light-based procedure is noninvasive and uses light energy to safely travel through the skin without harming any surrounding skin tissue. The most common side effects patients may experience are temporary redness, itchiness, and swelling of the skin. These side effects subside within a couple hours following a treatment. We recommend using aloe vera to soothe the skin.
